The Center for Learner Equity is pleased to see that the final Charter School Program regulations released by the US Department of Education reflect many of our recommendations regarding ways to ensure charter school proposals include important feedback from key communities and also include plans to provide services for students with disabilities. We appreciate the Department’s willingness to work with stakeholders to refine the language of the regulations. Each day, charter schools serve hundreds of thousands of students with disabilities and we know that CSP funds can help both new and expanding charter schools get started on the right foot. CLE looks forward to working with CSP grantees, the U.S. Department of Education and other key stakeholders to ensure students with disabilities have access to high quality charter schools.
