On Sunday, October 27, the Center received the 2019 NASDSE Martha J. Fields Award of Excellence in Louisville, Kentucky. The award is presented to an individual or organization that has made significant contributions to the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE) organization in support of services to state agencies to facilitate efforts to maximize educational outcomes for individuals with disabilities. Recipients are selected by the NASDSE Board of directors based on recommendations from the President and Executive Director.
After receiving the award, the Center’s Executive Director Lauren Morando Rhim stated, “We are humbled to accept this award from NASDSE. State Directors of Special Education are uniquely positioned at the intersection of federal and state policy and accordingly, critical to ensuring students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education. We value our strong relationship with NASDSE and to receive this acknowledgment of our contribution is an honor.
