CLE Receives A 3.5 Million Donation from Mackenzie Scott

The Center for Learner Equity (CLE), a national organization dedicated to ensuring students with disabilities thrive, is pleased to announce a charitable gift of $3.5 million from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. This donation will accelerate CLE’s initiatives to eradicate the complex, pervasive, and systematic barriers that prevent students with disabilities from accessing educational opportunities, quality support, and inclusive environments. CLE works in various geographies and contexts, with a special emphasis on the charter school sector.

“It is difficult to overstate the impact of this donation. Our team is currently engaged in strategic planning and creative imagining as we reflect on where the organization has been and where we’re going. Thus, the timing of Ms. Scott’s gift is almost serendipitous. With Ms. Scott’s support, we will be able to ramp up our ongoing efforts to ensure all students with disabilities are respected, learning, and thriving at school,” said The Center for Learner Equity’s Executive Director and Co-Founder Lauren Morando Rhim. “The support from all our donors, including this momentous donation from Ms. Scott, is critical in delivering on our mission of creating inclusive and high-quality schools through research, advocacy, and capacity building. We’re excited to leverage Ms. Scott’s investment to protect and advance the educational rights of students with disabilities.”

The Center for Learner Equity develops systemic and student-centered solutions to the inequities students with disabilities, across all lines of difference, face.
