On Friday, January 24, we learned that the U.S. Supreme Court will hear the Oklahoma religious charter school case. The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled that the state’s approval of a religious public charter school was unlawful.
In response to this decision, we are sharing a statement on behalf of the Center for Learner Equity:
“Religious charter schools contradict constitutional law. We stand with the Oklahoma Supreme Court’s June 25, 2024 decision, which safeguards church-state separation. We urge collaboration across policymakers, disability rights, civil rights, and charter communities, turning a collective focus on protecting access to equitable, inclusive, and safe schools for all students, especially students with disabilities.”
